Puppet Test Assignment

Thinking of what to make my puppet took a long time to figure out. I felt that there were so many options to do, but I settled on creating one of my favorite animals, an alpaca. The alpaca will tilt its head in confusion along with lowering its brows.

You know how I said pegs were hard last post? Well they still are, but now I have a better understanding of how to wire pegs in a hierarchy with parent pegs. Pegging is such an easy and efficient way to animate in a quick time. I love how it automatically does the in-betweens depending on whatever movement is made in the extremes.

I still struggled with timing the keyframes. My alpaca moved its head too slow to my liking, but it works in creating a hypnotic effect. Also, for some reason, the eyebrows did not move downwards. Oh well...

Despite all of this, the ears were actually the most difficult part of this assignment. I originally had each of them on their own respective peg wired ultimately to a parent peg that controlled both. The timing was hard to imagine especially when applying the rules of overlapping learned earlier in the semester. The ears should lag behind the head movement; I did this, but the ears would become off-centered. I tried moving them over, but it was too noticeable of a jump. I resorted to doing the ears frame-by-frame to spare myself the frustration. The timing isn't the best, but it yielded better results than the pegs.
